When her friend dies under circumstances eerily similar to the explosion that cast her out of Heaven, she makes a deal with Shax to track down the killer. Struggling to trust her new partner, Kheone fights her growing bond with the demon as they discover the pieces to a puzzle that just might reopen the ways back to Heaven and Hell. Working with a demon has Kheone questioning the very nature of good and evil, testing her loyalty to the Archangel Michael and all the angels trapped on Earth.

I loved this book. Emily Michel’s style of writing is so easy to read, it just flows, and you know a good book when you don’t really notice the writing, you just immerse yourself in the story. I enjoyed her book, Witch Hazel and Wolfsbane, and this book was just as good if not better.
Shax and Kheone are wonderful characters, flawed but resilient, and so right for each other, if they can get passed the aeons of rivalry and hatred. A demon and an angel working together, makes you wonder whether the heavens might fall, but there is definitely something more to both of these characters, and the journey to finding out is going to be so much fun.
I cannot wait for the next book, so Emily I hope you are writing already!!
A thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining read. An enemies to lovers, slow burn romance with plenty of intrigue and mystery. I love the fact that no matter what Drax tries to plan, goes wrong, and he finds himself deeper trouble, and yet he manages to find a way out, sometimes!

Emily Michel has called many places home during her life as a military family member, including Germany, Belgium, and Kansas. After nearly twenty years traipsing around Europe and the US, she settled back in her home state of Arizona a few years ago with her husband and kids.
When not writing, Emily reads, walks, crochets, and pets her feline overlords. Emily is the current President of Saguaro Romance Writers, a chapter of Romance Writers of America. She also volunteers for the PTA, but do not accuse her of being a PTA Mom. She’s cooler than that. Maybe.
