The Sixteenth Charm – entered Writers Digest Short Story competition, 2020.

The brief sketch in the book was so lifelike, a skinny street urchin with sandy hair and olive green eyes. I knew because I met him in the eighteen century, and then again in the nineteenth and the twentieth. We were getting closer but could we really meet in my time? And if so, how would he find me?

It’s been twenty years since the Tower fell silent, and now the crops are failing, the weather deteriorating, and no one knows where he’s gone or why. If they don’t appease him soon, it may be too late.
