Ruby Brooks has written a terrific debut novel. What a great achievement. A romance novel based in a world of animal shifters living besides humans. This novel follows two young teenagers, Hayley and Cole, as they grow to understand what is inside of them and how they need to learn to control it and themselves.
I love the fact that Ruby puts her own twist on the world, and that this is not a typical shifter novel where only the alpha rules. Hayley and Cole have a voice too, and they need to learn to use it. We hear from them both as the chapters flip between there POV’s so we get to see what they each think about what is happening and how they cross their wires.
This novel is very well written, the prose flows beautifully and the action draws you in. You are rooting for them to find each other.
There is plenty of scope for further novels, even though this is a standalone book, the characters are so rich that you want to know more about them.
Highly recommend you read Ruby’s debut novel, this is so good, and can only get better!
