An enjoyable urban fantasy set in a world where paranormal beings co-exist with humans, all except dragons who were wiped out by the other species in a rare period of unity.
Thea is the daughter of of the Arcansclan, but she rebelled many years ago and walked away from her family. Thea works with the human police to try and prevent innocent humans being prey to out of control shifters. When a case she takes on turns out to be not what she expected, she is thrust into a world of secrets. Thea is a loner, afraid to make friends, so finding someone like her, someone to share with is nice lead in to a possible romance in future books.
A well written fantasy, with a well developed world of creatures and magic. Plenty of action and angst, though apart from the fact her family seem overbearing and dictatorial, you don’t know that much of Thea’s background. I loved Hero the talking cat, would love to learn more about her and where she comes from.
Assuming this is written by Molly Webb, but not sure how Ava Richardson fits in, or whether this is the same person with a new pen name for a new series.
