The second installment of the Turning Moon series is a more introspective novel as we focus on Michael, the beta who is struggling to accept that all the horrors that happened in the first book, weren’t his fault.
As such it is a much slower beginning as we follow Michael as he fights his own insecurities and tries to reengage with the world and people around him. His struggles are heart breaking, though his progression just as heart warming.
Embleton’s prose is a joy to read and her understanding of the emotional rollercoaster she puts her characters through beautifully captured. Her characters are rich and well developed and are just as wonderful to meet as we follow them through the many ups and down that challenge them.
I listened to the audiobook, and Elyse Osterhaug did a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life, and I thoroughly enjoyed her narration.
Can’t wait to read/listen to book three!
