Being deaf meant life was hard for Adelaide in thirteenth century Germany. However, it also saved her from the Pied Piper’s music. When the children were stolen, she was left behind. Now she and her blind friend risk everything to free the children trapped in an eternal dance. But to rescue them she must face the Heartless Queen, who will do anything to keep them, and survive her twisted games. Adelaide finds she has no choice but to trust the man she should hate and hope he is not playing games of his own.
If she fails, the children will be lost forever.

A thoroughly enjoyable Pied Piper retelling with a twist. Adelaide is deaf. She has been excluded, abused, and under-estimated her whole life, because she is different. When the Pied Piper comes to Hamelin to steal all the children, Adelaide is one of the few able to resist the call.
But she is not about to let her younger sister go missing without doing something about it. And so we go on an adventure with a young deaf girl, leading a young blind girl into the unknown.
This is a wonderful story about believing in yourself and your true abilties, and not in what others may say. This is a wonderfully complex story, with challenges to resolve and a hint of romance to make you smile.
Ivinya writes a beautiful story, adding her own twist and drawing you in. You should pick up this book, you won’t regret it. I am so excited to see there is a book two Enchanted Melody and we can revisit Adelaide and Peter. Yes! she says as she punches the air!
