What a great beginning to the series. From the start there is plenty of intrigue and mystery, and it just keeps going. Action packed, fast paced and with some amazing characters, where to begin?
Prince Caelan is sent of a diplomatic mission on behalf of his mother, the queen, but before he even arrives, all hell breaks loose as the empire attacks his home and he becomes an exiled king without a kingdom. Finding himself on the run, and crossing dangerous territory, he is fortunate to have his closest friends with him.
Drake has created some wonderful characters, all of which I am sure will have an important part to play, especially as the chapters rotate between the four characters POV. There is some romance and steamy scenes, but the romance is secondary to the political intrigue and the will of the gods.
Great world building, a mixture of low and high fantasy in that the world is high tech, with cell phones and cars, and yet not of our world. The Godstones and the gods add an element of mystical magic and power and sound intriguing.
So excited all six books are published, because I am off for a book series binge read! And don’t you just love the covers?
