In the middle of a forest clearing, Gene watches her dissolve into thin air.
To follow, Gene must leave his training behind and step through a doorway to another world—one filled with wonders, as well as dangers real enough to kill him. In the end, saving the two girls will take more than Gene’s cunning and skill; it will take his heart, and change it forever.

What starts out as a yet another missing persons investigation, soon devolves into a mind bending adventure in another world. It’s time to suspend belief and take the knocks until you can prove otherwise.
Wykes is an incredible character. World weary, bluff and blunt, and yet under that defensive exterior there is truly a lovely man with a heart of gold. He has just hidden it really well after forty years of tracking down missing children along with the resulting grief and anger when the case does not end well.
This time, Wykes is determined that his last case won’t end badly. But he can’t believe his eyes when a girl vanishes into thin air. His resulting investigation will take him to places he never dreamt existed.
A very cleverly woven tale, with some amazing world building. Beautifully written, Watson drags you through every emotion as Wykes tries to assimilate what cannot be possible, but obviously is.
Be warned, although this doesn’t end on a cliffhanger, the tale is not finished. I hope we do not have too long to wait for book two.
