Kirian and I were just twelve years old when I pulled him from the icy waters of the creek behind my house. As he looked in my direction with unseeing lavender eyes, I quickly realized our age was just about the only thing we had in common. He spoke with an accent, he had pointy ears, and he was so beautiful it made my heart ache. Oh, and he claimed to be a fae prince cursed by witches who stole his sight.
I thought he was crazy from hypothermia. Turns out, he wasn’t, and for some reason he keeps coming back. But a day in my world is a year in his. Every time I see him, he’s older. Wiser. Hotter.
This is a nice fantasy romance, set in a fae world which exists beside the human world, and has adapted some, but not all of the human ways.
A chance meeting between Quinn and a young Fae prince who fell in her local creek, starts the beginning of a very special friendship. A friendship that spans six years in Quinns world, and 2000 years in the fae world.
A lot can change over time, but their friendship only strengthens, and when Quinn tells Kirian that she is leaving to go to college, Kirian takes the drastic step of pulling her through the portal to his world. He can’t cope with the thought of not seeing her for years at a time. Though he is cursed by a witch’s spell rendering him blind, so he has never actually ‘seen’ her.
Quinn is horrified as she knows the only way Kirian will get his sight back is when he finds his fated mate, and he can only kiss his fated mate, no other. But Kirian kisses her, not that she is complaining! And he has lost his chance to get his sight back.
The relationship between the sassy Quinn, who is pure at heart and loyal, and Kirrian who is honest and true and lovable is wonderful. A beautifully written fae fantasy with a touch of realism and laugh out loud commentary, if a little predictable. The steamy scenes add a bit of spice and you egg them on.
A nice easy read.
I’m looking forward to reading the next in the series. Although they are standalone books it’s the same world and characters so Damon is next and he deserves his HEA.
